Horn Greyhound Corkscrew Gadget Cane (1910 -1920)

A very solid and unusual gadget cane in the form of a sporting dog.   

Made from antler horn and carved into a study of a whippet or greyhound and completed with glass eyes. At the base of the dog head carving is held a machine engraved silver collar (suggested silver - no markings evident and not tested). The study is mounted on a beautiful turned hardwood shaft ending in a metal ferrule.

 

When the handle is unscrewed and lifted a corkscrew is revealed.

Condition:

The cane is in excellent condition for its age. The dog handle is solid and free from breaks or cracks but does show the characteristics of aged horn. The corkscrew is solid and straight. The shaft again in lovely condition free from breaks or crack and completed with a metal base ferrule, which is also in good condition

18th Century Mughal Indian sword stick with carved jade handle in the form of a lion's head. The study holding inset rough cut diamonds encircled with gold together with a deep  Indian silver collar.

Petrol Lighter Gadget Cane (Birmingham 1930)

A superb petrol lighter held in book like case. Covered in crocodile skin mounted on black hardwood shaft and deep horn ferrule. Finished with silver collar Assay for Birmingham 1930.

Condition

Beautiful condition yet showing appropriate wear for age.

Semi Automatic Petrol Lighter Gadget Cane c.1920

 

Semi - automatic petrol lighter with push button action. White metal although holding impressed mark HALLMARKED SILVER on base of lighter. Push the button on the side and the lighter lid lifts at speed.  The button needs to be pushed when closing the lighter.

 

Top of lighter engraved with TCD.

 

The lighter is mounted on a square hardwood shaft with what appears to be the original base metal ferrule

Condition

 

It is evident that the cane has been well used yet free from breaks, cracks or restoration. The lighter has not been tested for flame .

Ivory & Silver Pen Holder Cane ( London 1923 )

 A superb gadget cane in the form of a pen holder. The ivory top unscrews to reveal a retractable pen contained within the cane. The decorated silver collar Assay for London 1923. The gadget pommel mounted on a dark hardwood polished cane with base brass ferrule.

Condition.

Lovely condition free from breaks or cracks yet showing appropriate wear for age.

Early 19th Century Patent Telescope & Compass Cane (c.1860)

Truly a  superb telescope and compass gadget cane. The tortoiseshell pommel unscrews to reveal a compass. The upper shaft is covered in  shagreen which  unscrews to reveal the telescope.

The gadget mounted on a gloss high ridge, full bark Malacca with base metal ferrule and brass side eyelets.

 

Condition

The cane is in superb condition yet show appropriate wear for age
