A really superb Victorian character cane of jockey, formed from bone.The study mounted on a Malacca shaft and finished with a base metal ferrule.

Very Large Silver Pommel on Cork Wood Presentation Cane - Edinburgh 1879

A superb giant of a cane. Large silver pommel, Hallmarked for Edinburgh 1878 mounted on cork wood and finished with base metal ferrule.

Bronze Sunday Stick c.1900

An interesting slime line Sunday stick. Head made of bronze.One side holding the initials I R L.

The shaft hickory which has been originally stained and polished . The base of the slim line cane finished with a replacement copper ferrule ring.

Condition

Cane and head in good condition yet showing appropriate wear for age. The shaft cleaned and re-polished to original level.

Japanese Ivory Noh Masks or Thousand Faces Walking Stick (c.1900)

SOLD

Japanese ivory pommel handle. Profusely carved with grotesque and stylised 'Noh Masks' or  'Thousand Faces'. Mounted on ebonised shaft with white metal collar ( not currently tested for silver)

Base of cane finished with  metal ferrule.

Condition

The carving is in lovely condition for age with appropriate wear,patina and expansion lines for age. Collar in good condition free from cracks or breaks-not currently tested for silver and no Assay /makers marks present.

Cork wood walking stick (c.1910)

This is stick that will add something different to a collection.

Beautifully knobbly and gnarled down the shaft of the cane.  The upper shaft, pommel and base ferrule area carved clear.

 

Condition

Nobles all appear to be in place. Minor expansion cracks on pommel. Otherwise in excellent condition for age

Large Ivory Handle on Malacca c.1866

SOLD

A very unusual ivory handle cane mounted on Malacca. At the front of the ivory handle holds a carving of an eagle swooping upon a young lamb. Below the study the ivory is carved into the form of a strap and buckle.

The shaft of the cane holds the primitive  carving WSS 1866 into the Malacca shaft. The cane finished with base metal ferrule.

Condition

A couple of minor ivory expansion lines held on the cane handle. The shaft free from breaks or crack but a lower expansion line to the Malacca.

19th Century Folk Art Walking Stick c.1890

This is a superb one piece 19th Century folk art cane.

The hardwood pommel carved as a bearded man with feathered turban.The shaft of the cane holding carving of squares and lozenges.

Base of cane holding a small ring collar ferrule.
